Living in Los Angeles we often forget that April means significant showers in most parts of the country. The Senz storm proof umbrella is the ultimate travel accessory, withstanding winds up to 70 mph. Functioning much like a weathervane, the unique shape of the canopy automatically locates an optimal position in the wind. Aerodynamic design and reinforced construction, including ribs in the frame, absorb force preventing the canopy from inverting. You can pick one up here for $60.

We just found the first 100% biodegradable umbrella. The frame is made of bamboo and the clear canopy is a new bioplasic that is biodegradable and will “biodegrade in less than 5 years in any conventional landfill site” according to Pam & Co., the company who produces this green creation. The Brelli is the brainchild of Pam Zonsius, a New York based entrepreneur who was inspired to create a more eco-friendly version of the umbrella when one day, after a rain, she saw the street littered with discarded and broken umbrellas. You can pick up your own at www.thebrelli.com
