Great architects creating forms which enrich living. It is a natural evolution for an architecture firm to apply their sensibility and process to areas beyond buildings. Such is the case with the firm architecturew. You may recall their B House Remodel which reinvented a home as a contemporary dwelling.

The firm’s latest project is a modern coffee table which would be a fitting addition the the spaces architecturew is known for. The table is a result of experimentation with simple repetitive materials revealing unexpected patterns and structures. With a nod to classic forms of the past, the innovative materials and flowing shape result in a truly contemporary design.

Wide Dining Table 538 by De La Espada

It seems that the craft of furniture making has been all but forgotten. Bucking the trend is De La Espada. The furniture maker spares no expense to create furniture the way it should be. A love of materials, they only use solid wood, and attention to detail, close inspection reveals beautiful joining, are their signature. Combine this with a modern sensibility, and you have beautiful pieces which will last generations. The 538 wide dining table is an example of minimal style warmed by choice of material.

Sheeps Table by Itay Ohaly

This table, by Israeli designer Itay Ohaly, Encourages the removal of smaller internal tables to be used separately before being herded back to the larger table. Walnut and Corian. 100 cm x 120 cm x 28 cm.

Athos ’05 by Paolo Piva for B&B Italia

Athos ’05 was designed by Paolo Piva a little while back. Starting from a length of 190 cm, and can be extended to 245 cm and 300 cm, for eight up to twelve people. Matching the design, a multi-purpose console was added, provided with a drawer and a separate shelf below, which doubles as a bench, 45 cm tall. Available through B&B Italia.
