It has been a busy summer for photographer Julia Fullerton Batten. With exhibitions in Switzerland and New York wrapping up she’s jetting over to Washington DC for the opening of her Solo show at Randall Scott Gallery on September 13th. Her new series entitled “In Between” is an excellent illustration of her ability of the capture energy and emotion of her subjects. We have long been fans of Julia’s work. If you are lucky enough to be in the D.C. area between now and October 18th this show is a must see.

Based in London, Julia has an incredible body of work. We were most impressed with her “Teenage Stories” series, which depicts street cast adolescents towering over their environments. The viewer is unsure as to whether they are giants or the environments are miniature. The decision to depict children dominating their environments makes for an interesting series. The studio lighting of her models is carefully orchestrated and the images are composited with outdoor photography for the finished piece. Julia has won a number of awards and is represented in the USA, France, Italy and the UK. She has a wonderful site that is worth the visit.
