We once were faced with the challenge of what to get for someone who has everything. So we asked a friend who disappeared and came back with this design by Marc Newson. If you can get past the idea of spending a hundred bucks on a flashlight, it’s really a fantastic gift. Machined from solid aluminum bar stock. Polycarbonate diffuser. Molded orange polypropylene case. Turns on by twisting the head. Leather carrying strap. 2 x 9 inches. You can order it here for $100.



Designed in 1988 by Achille Castiglioni, this lamp was an update to the Taraxacum S2 which he designed 28 years earlier. The lamp gets its name from the formal name for a dandelion. The center of the lamp has twenty triangular sides, each of which hold three bulbs for a total of 60. Alternate sizes have six and ten bulbs per panel for a total of 120 and 200 respectively.
