Glow will fill the hours between dusk to dawn with compelling, enchanting and effervescent sights and sounds situated in spaces and times that expand possibilities for how the public experiences contemporary art. Artists were commissioned to create unique and inviting works that welcome the public to be both audience and actor for twelve celebratory hours. Inspired by the wildly successful Nuit Blanche in Paris, Glow takes its spirit from the fabled grunion that live in local waters and come ashore several times a year to spawn in the sand creating a momentary sensation of iridescence.
Glow will be taking place on the Santa Monica Pier, on the beach north and south of the Pier and in Palisades Park, in the two blocks between Colorado and Santa Monica Boulevards on Saturday, July 19th, 2008. Beginning at 7PM and lasting until 7:00AM, it will be a free event for all. Click here to download the official schedule for the event.

The streets of West Hollywood will be packed over in honor of the 11th Annual Art & Design Walk which kicks off this Saturday, May 31, 2008. The Avenues of Art & Design are located along Melrose Avenue, Robertson and Beverly Boulevards. They are the West Coast’s premier destination of interior design studios, art galleries, showrooms, specialty shops and restaurants. Art Afficianados, Stylephiles, and Home Fashionistas alike will be toasting to the latest trends in design, fashion, art, and beauty during this mile long open house. Admission is free and Urth Café will provide free coffee drinks and tea as well as free Fiji Bottled Water that will be handed out at the six hospitality stations throughout the Avenues. Meters will not be enforced that day, so we are going to try for a front spot to purchase that couch we’ve been eyeing at Armani Casa.
For more info you can check out the official 11th Annual Art & Design brochure, click here to download the pdf.

Please join us for spicy egg nog, Christmas shopping, and the opening of James Quinlan’s ABSTRACTS at Ghettogloss this Saturday December 2, 2006. Starting at 7PM and raging until 1AM, the store will be jam packed with Christmas goods and we will be featuring a small group show in the store while James Quinlan’s ABSTRACTS will be featured in the gallery. Look for pocket size abstracts to use as stocking stuffers! Ghettogloss will be projecting obscure Holiday films on 16mm outside on the building while playing punk rock Christmas themed music inside. Deformed Christmas cookies will be served.
James Quinlan’s ABSTRACTS will be featured in the main gallery. These paintings are derived from drawings done around New York City. James Quinlan was born in Newark, New Jersey, and has lived in New York City since 1979. He has shown at several galleries in New York. He has also been in bands and made short 16mm films. He is employed as designer for the New York Times.
