After years of trying to conceive, Madeline and Michael Matheson are finally pregnant. But with only weeks before delivery, an accident leaves both Michael and the unborn child dead. Devastated, Madeline determines to carry the child to term and deliver naturally. What seemed like madness becomes a miracle when, after delivering a stillborn child, Madeline finds her baby is indeed alive… and hungry.

You can check out the Theatrical release of Grace, directed by friend of Neu Black Paul Solet, in NYC an LA this Friday Aug 14. We saw some of the rough cuts and this is a truly disturbing movie. If you’re a fan of Saw or Hostel this will definitely be up your alley.

It Might Get Loud (Trailer)

Rarely can a film penetrate the glamorous surface of rock legends. It Might Get Loud tells the personal stories, in their own words, of three generations of electric guitar virtuosos – The Edge (U2), Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), and Jack White (The White Stripes). It reveals how each developed his unique sound and style of playing favorite instruments, guitars both found and invented. Concentrating on the artist’s musical rebellion, traveling with him to influential locations, provoking rare discussion as to how and why he writes and plays, this film lets you witness intimate moments and hear new music from each artist. The movie revolve around a day when Jimmy Page, Jack White, and The Edge first met and sat down together to share their stories, teach and play.

The film is reportedly opening in Los Angeles (and other select cities) August 14th, but still no word as to exactly where it’s opening. We will be sure and let you know as soon as a venue is announced. If you have any inside tips you want to leak be sure and let us know.

Thanks to Johnathan Jarvis for this animated piece on how the credit crisis evolved. This is about the quickest and easiest explanation we’ve seen to date, and it’s very nicely animated to boot.

Kongregate

6-differences
Kongregate may not neccisarily be the inevtiable next thing in video games, but there’s certainly a chance that it could. If the trend in social networking is meet and talk to people for a specific purpose (think Linked In as opposed to Face Book), this seems like a slam dunk for gamers.
Kongregate’s games are all 2-D flash or java script based games, so they’re not going to take out your X-Box anytime soon, but Kongregate does have a few distinct advantages. The most obvious is that unlike traditional gaming systems, are no consoles, controllers, or peripherials to buy, and all the games are free. There’s also no subscription fee to play with other people online (we’re looking at you X-Box Live) and you can play with anyone connected to the internet. We also wouldn’t be surprised if this ended up being a mobile gaming platform for your phone a few years from now. It would make sense if you could get one app with a ton of games rather than a bunch of separate individual ones.
As you’d expect from a social network, players can create profiles with their info, scores, and game stats. You can also shout out and/or trash talk your friends to your hearts content, and what fun is an MMPOG if you cant pwn! your buddies every now and again. Just remember not get caught doing it at work.

Joe Strummer- The Future is Unwritten

Once referred to as “The only band that matters,” The Clash were not only at the beginning of Punk Rock, but arguably the end of it as well. We were unbelievably excited a few years back when we heard Joe Strummer and Mick Jones had finally got on the same stage again in 2002, only to be heart broken by Strummer’s passing later that year.
We caught Julien Temple’s amazing tribute doc “Joe Strummer, The Future is Unwritten” and loved it. This was a very interesting look at the beginnings of the punk era The Clash helped to usher in (partly by cannibalizing the hippie counter culture scene) as well as Strummers relationship with fame, success, and the inevitable demise of Punk itself.

Bike Hero

A friend of ours at G4 sent us a link to this the other day as they debated its authenticity. As it turns out it takes a tremendous amount of work to make something that looks this “real” and of course its anything but. While every agency tries to jump on the viral video bandwagon this Bike Hero video directed by Jaron Albertin actually pulls it off by making a slightly too produced to be real adventure through suburbia that’s fun and quirky enough to be send to a friend worthy.

BTW- You can count the number of punk bands worth listening to these days on one hand, but you have to reserve at least one finger (you can guess which one) for The Living End featured in the video above.

MUTO

We’ve seen graffiti, and we’ve seen animation, but we’ve never seen anything quite like this. You remember that guy in art class who seemed to just draw on everything all the time? This is what happens when you let that guy loose in a blighted part of the city no one cares about. Now if only we could get him to come to LA.
We couldn’t find much info about this except that the artists handle is Blu and this piece, “Muto” was made over the course of a few months (no kidding, looks like this would take years) in Buenos Aires and Baden. If you have anymore info about his guy PLEASE post it in a comment.
We found the following message on Blu’s Blog, which we we think translates in propr engrish to “I keeps it real”-
I’m receiving loads of emails about Muto
I can’t reply to everyone so I try to do a quick resume.
if you are asking for advertising works the answer is: NO THANKS
if you are asking for music videos the answer is: see above
if you want to use it for any commercial purpose: see the license or read again the answer above.
for any other proposal: I will try to reply as soon as I canfor everyone else: thank you very much guys.
