We’re pretty up on that whole European hand-drawn aesthetic as of late. So Me pushed himself to the forefront with his creative direction for ed banger / illustrations-a-plenty per t-shirts in the video for Justice’s D.A.N.C.E. So it’s only appropriate we tip our collective hats to the artists continuing in that vein. First up; the French collective Shoboshobo. Like a couple previous posts, dudes are kinda all over the place. Hand stitched sweaters, silk screened shirts, drawn-on cassettes with original music, icons and the like. These guys are pretty on point. Viva la analog!

“I can’t believe you morons actually buy this shit,” is our new favorite phrase of the day thanks to art punk extraordinaire Banksy. The anonymous street artist sends a big middle finger to all the patrons who are obviously buying the prints as an investment or the “cool factor.” As you would expect, all of these prints sound out all most instantly at prices ranging from £250 ($491.25) for unsigned prints to £650 ($1,277.25) for signed ones. Just in case you missed it, be sure and check out Neu Blacks coverage of Banksy’s LA show last year.
Though currently unavailable, these prints as well as others from Banksy are periodically available through POW (Pictures on Walls) if you want to check this out for yourself.
We have to admit, when we saw a banksy print was for sale, we were tempeted to buy just for the priceless irony. We ‘d like to ask everyone, would you buy a print like this?

We love these two new prints just released by Scott Hansen of ISO 50. Vuela is on the left and Past is Prologue is on the right. They’re both printed on a hefty 100lb natural tone stock made in USA, and available with many other beautiful prints through his online store.
Hansen is also playing in the LA area with his audio project Tycho Music 3/27/07, which is bumping though our speakers this very second.

Artist and fashion designer Simeon Farrar has been creating some great work as of late. Above are some examples of recent artwork. The new work might be described as Rauschenberg meets asian propaganda and we love it.
The clothing really takes advantage of Simeon’s artistic sense, embracing the texture and pleasant imperfections of illustration. A list of stores carrying his clothing can be found here.
