There are just some of us who do a better job at putting it all together. Austin based stylist Sarah Dean is one of those people. Her unique flair for vintage couture has attracted the eye of photographers reaching beyond the ordinary. “I put a lot of me into the pieces I select,” she tells Neu Black “some of my influences are musical, Americana and 70′s country like Dolly Pardon come to mind. As for my personal style, I like to play with proportion and layer, not simplistic, where genres intermix.”

In September 2008, she committed to a Year of Living Thriftily, a partially green initiative where she’ll consume no new fashion related goods for the duration of the year and instead purchase only thrifted pieces. She’s updating this entire experience on her blog. Dean notes “the project has been a challenge, but an overall success.” In the spirit of thrifting, she also rotates her collection through her online store, Magnolia Family Vintage, where you can snag some unique pieces and hard to finds.
