Piero Fornasetti’s master craftsmanship extended to painting, sculpture, furniture design, and product design. His plate collections are among his most coveted pieces. In 1967 Fornasetti began designing plates to commemorate each new calendar year. Upon his death in 1988, his son Barnaba Fornasetti assumed the business and expanded the Fornasetti line into apparel and household articles. This 42nd calendar is being released in an edition of 700 as has been the case in years past. While other plates in the Fornasetti collection are easily purchased, the calendar plates, including this one, seem to be virtually unobtainable in the United States.
