“Prada Marfa” 2005. Elmgreen & Dragset
Art and fashion have been likely bedfellows for as long as either one existed. Warhol and von Furstenberg. Prince and Vuitton. Viktor and Rolf. This season is no exception as designers sent looks down the runway that recalled such varying influences as Chagall (Jonathan Saunders), Hockney (Peter Som), and Mondrian (TSE, Rachel Roy). While last year’s painterly influences were expressed in splashes and splatters from D&G to Yves Saint Laurent, next Spring we can expect these abstract expressions to be more refined to a more painterly-inspired palette.
