Save the Tacos

A new Los Angeles ordinance which takes effect next week makes it illegal for taco trucks to be in the same location for more than an hour. Those who do not comply are subject to fines or even jail time.
The taco truck has become a staple of LA’s identity. Whether it’s a break from a hot summer afternoon or a bite on your way home from the club, to lose this experience would be a blow to our city. There is a communal aspect to gathering together and eating on the street.
If this upsets you as much as it does us, add your name to this online petition which already has more than 5000 signatures.

I heard about this on KCRW this afternoon. Before making LA my home Taco Trucks were a sought after commodity. After being in LA for 7 years solid, it saddens me that the city would deprive us of this truly cultural experience. In my opinion it is one of the most authentic ways to experience “Chicano” cuisine. As Alex and I are not in the same location today, I am totally happy to see that he posted on this. Petition Signed!
