First gear takes you from zero to 60 mph in about four seconds. Second will take you north of 130. What is interesting is that while gasoline engines have lower torque at low rpm’s, electric motors give a more constant level of torque, which is highest at low rpms. So if you hit the gas from a stop it’s unlike anything you have ever felt before. At it’s peak acceleration, the car delivers 200 Kw of electric power. The car will travel 250 miles per charge with a cost of one cent per mile to power it. Compare that to a typical car which might cost 10 times that in fuel. Better yet, there is no luxury tax. Sells $100,000 with a refundable reservation payment of $75,000. Expect to see them on the road next year.
