There’s something about transforming everyday objects into clean, white, lighter than air gallery pieces that can only be so lovely because it comes from such a simple idea.
Brooklyn artist Tara Donavan creates these beautiful pieces from fishing line, styrafoam cups, and drinking straws. We can’t help but look at these and realize that anyone can buy these materials for the cost of lunch, but making them into works of art takes heaps of patience and imagination.

What a great website at ACE GALLERY! An easy tour! And inspirational images with a stable of
thoroughbreds. Tara was born the year I attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. I love coffee cups, and elastic bands and her work!
And she still lives in Brooklyn – such memories
