NesTable by Jasper Morrison for Vitra

Jasper Morrison and Vitra never dissappoint. As we become increasingly mobile so grows the need for impromptu workspace. The NesTable is a clever update on the TV tray. Not only is the height adjustable, the angle of the surface is as well. The design seems to take a certain amount of inspiration from the design of traditional music stands. The NesTable even promises to make working from a lounge chair or sofa ergonomic. Here’s to that.

So functional – they remind me of adjustable height hospital tables – if the top wasn’t polyurethane, I could see buying one – it would be perfect for working outside under a tree.

If they only folded up into a neat shoulder bag I’d be set.

Dave from IKEA is definetly far more beautiful. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00120818

I have the IKEA Dave. It’s crap. The petal shape looks nice but provides little usable space because it tapers so sharply at the top. Nothing like moving your mouse up and running out of surface area. Also, the hinge is extremely weak so if you put any significant pressure on it, it buckles and collapses. The one-piece column of this Vitra table looks much more sturdy.

I like the design but too costly, not a smart thing to have. I’ll prefer buying the IKEA’s.
