Material Connexion is a resource library of new and innovative designer materials. In a nutshell, it’s the industrial designer’s candy store. Their scientifically designed materials have shown up in everything from Nike’s new Air Jordans (polymer mesh wire shown in photo), to architect David Rockwell’s new buildings (light emitting concrete). One of our fav’s was magnetic primer, just spray it on a wall (or anything else) and you can use magnets hang up your sketches.
If you can’t find a material that meets your needs, Material Connexion has a team of scientists on staff to create custom ones. Offices are located in New York, Bangkok. Cologne, Milan, and an internet library is available on their website.
