Christian Faur is a modern artist in the most classical sense of the term. Rather than being boxed into doing one kind of art or another, Faur jumps from one medium to the next. While the expressions vary, they are all loosely connected by a common thread of ideas.
“I think of it like a game,” says Faur, “with a set of axioms that are established at the outset through the limitations of the material or forms from which the work is constructed, which then dictates what can and cannot be ’said’ within the boundaries of the chosen medium.”
Our personal favorites were this series of images made with crayons. We love the fact that this made us re-interpret our ideas about what making art with crayons meant, and that they can seem fun and serious at the same time.
