Director Ridley Scott originally made the film Blade Runner in 1982. The film takes place in a futuristic cyberpunk city which was developed with futurists such as illustrator Syd Mead. Over the following 25 years, the future noir piece has moved from obscurity to cult status. Upon seeing a rough-cut work print without narration and with a different ending, people wanted to see a directors cut. In 1992, Scott released what he felt was a better version. Over the next fifteen years he continued to polish scenes and effects and make refinements to the cut.
The piece is now showing in a single theater in Los Angeles and two in New York (you may only have a couple more days to catch it). If you miss it in the theater, look for it on DVD, HD-DVD, and Blue-Ray December 18.
