American photographer Andrew Bush captures people in their cars doing what we should be doing, driving. No cell phones, no fuss but some with an occasional map. Bush takes us back to time when it was just us and our car, and maybe a simple radio. In his series, ’66 drives’ we get to spy on people across the United States, most in Los Angeles, singing, waiting at stop lights or driving on highways, the simpler things we used to do in our cars. This collection reminds us of a road trip across America but seems to travel back in time, as well as across state lines.

That lady in the pink Corvette is Angelyne…before there was Jocelyn W and Amanda LePore…and even before Orlan, there was LA’s Angelyne…remember her from the billboard during the title sequence of the TV show Moonlighting? I lived in LA between 2000 and 05, and would see her driving along Franklin near the Hollywood Sign…I’d always wave at her. She never waved back.

  2. Alex Jones Says:

Didn’t she (or someone on her behalf) pay to have her image put up on billboards everywhere?

  3. kitten von likkienstein Says:

yep…her husband (who owns a chevy dealership in LA, which explains the pink corvette) paid for the work on her face/tay-tahs and the billboards…). i think she’s amazing.
