Abu Ghraib coffee table - I was rendered
London born artist Phillip Toledano has spent much of his professional career in photography, taking a 10 year departure to art direct at some of the worlds largest ad agencies. He recently created America the Gift Shop, an installation project centered around the idea that America’s foreign policy could be represented by certain keepsakes to remind us of the events of the last eight years. In an effort to preserve sentiment and expose the hard truths we have faced as a nation, Toledano’s highly critical piece makes the viewer simultaneously uncomfortable and pensive.
