British/Illustrator Si Scott dazzles us with swirls and curls that we swear are moving even though we know they are standing still. With work for BBC, Nike, and Paul Smith apparently we aren’t the only ones that are impressed. If you love what you see, as much as we do, you can pick up one of his prints at Soma Gallery.
With the TED Conference going on right now, we thought we’d highlight a talk by Philippe Starck at last year’s conference. Philippe Starck, with no pretty slides behind him, spends 18 minutes reaching for the very roots of the question “Why design?” Along the way he drops brilliant insights into the human condition; listen carefully for one perfectly crystallized mantra for all of us, genius or not. Yet all this deep thought, he cheerfully admits, is to aid in the design of a better toothbrush. The full transcript is available here.
Born in South Africa and now living in the United States, Stefan Abrams has several photo series up on his site. Among the landscapes, there are some great examples of formal, modern compositions. Additionally, one of the series captures people inside show cars at an auto show. What a great idea.

It’s officially Russian day at Neu Black as we continue to score gems from the other side of the globe. We found these fun little salt and pepper shakers by Yaroslav Rassadin and had two immediate thoughts-
1. We’re buying a set of these.
2. We’re obviously prejudiced against pepper, because we insticntively knew it should go in the evil shaker and listen to Black Sabbath.
We had to hunt a bit for these but found them at english distributor Exit for £12.
Phoenix based ANTIGIRL has released these two lithographs, each in an edition of 125. Her work ranges from mixed media collage, to handmade paper goods, to industrial design pieces. What’s nice about this kind of collage work is that you can find small areas that you fall in love with and which represent compositions of their own. Printed on 80# textured cover. Available for $45 each. Get them before they sell out. -Via Design*Sponge.
Russian illustrator and artist Evgeny Kiselev has a fun, energetic style that looks like a party is about to explode out of the paper. His highly detailed ilustrations have appeared on brands all over the world and he’s a computer arts fav. This kind of work reminds us that there are artists in corners of the world we’d never expect, yet we seem to relate to them like they live next door.
You can get prints of his work (including the piece shown above) from poster lounge.

News flash gang, the game has changed. We know, you read the headline and thought, “When did Adobe start making cameras?” We scoffed until we saw what this could do and now it all makes sense.
Adobe has put together a multi-lens camera that allows a shot to be taken from multiple angles and depths at the same time. Using a new software prototype both depth of field and camera angle can be adjusted digitally in post production.Â
The effect of these multiple angles is an image that has some (albeit limited) 3-D functionality. You can get a better sense of the effect by watching the video above from our friends at techeblog, and a better understanding of the science behind it can be found on popsci.com.  Â
We had a party. We bought/borrowed/stole some chairs so all of our friends aren’t sitting on the floor. Now comes the big question, what the hell do we do with all these chairs? Studio Dror seems to have answered our prayers with the BBB Pick Chair. When not in use by your stylish party guests, you can unfold them and hang them on the wall and add a little style to your place instead of trying to find a dark corner to hide them. Available through Studio Dror’s online store for $1800.
